1. Book Glutton
http://www.bookglutton.com/
-Book glutton is an online discussion center for many public domain and in copyright books. Teachers can register a private group and allow students to discuss the book. As well as discussion the site contains the full text of the book and students can highlight the specific section they are referencing. The goal of the service is to enrich in class discussion and improve student insight into their readings
2. Page Flakes
http://www.pageflakes.com/
Customized homepage service. Page flakes allows the user to create a single webpage with sections that pull information from other online sources. Page flakes allows the user to access information from multiple sites in one place. Page flakes is an excellent way to dip your toe into the idea of having your own teacher, class, or team website
3. Prezi
http://prezi.com/
Prezi creates presentations that incorporate a high degree of flow from one idea or point to the next. Prezi by design pushes users to use little text and expand on text entered rather than read from the presentation. Prezi also integrates with video, audio and still pictures. Prezi has a user friendly web based interface that means students will pick it up relatively easily and as it is web based they can access and work on their presentation from any web connected device.
4. Dropbox
http://www.getdropbox.com/
Dropbox is an installed program that allows the user to save their work (up to 2gb) on an online server that can be accessed fro m anywhere (program must be installed to save but not to read or download). Online dropboxes can be shared by inviting others to see specific files that have been saved to it. Dropbox will show up as a “save to” option on computers on which it is installed. This would allow you to save files that you work on from a school computer and access them at home or other computer with online access.
5. 1Password
http://tinyurl.com/2zcjoh
Every website that you register for has its own password scheme; letter only, letters and numbers, 8-16 characters, no more than 10 characters. You can't always use the same password and login that you like so you have to write them down or risk forgetting them. 1Password installs on a computer and lets you organize all your passwords so that when you are on your computer you only have to know your 1Password password.
By request... TinyUrl.com
Click here to go to tinyurl.com. This is the site that converts long URL (web addresses) into short "tiny urls."
Here's what the site says, "Are you sick of posting URLs in emails only to have it break when sent causing the recipient to have to cut and paste it back together? Then you've come to the right place. By entering in a URL in the text field below, we will create a tiny URL that will not break in email postings and never expires."
